We will begin our Cusco City Tour from the meeting point or with hotel pick-up, as previously coordinated, at the agreed time. The first stop will be the Cusco Cathedral, one of the most representative treasures of colonial religious art in South America. Inside, you will find impressive Baroque and Renaissance altars, as well as valuable paintings from the Cusco School, which blend European style with Andean worldview.
Next, we will visit the Qorikancha Temple (entrance not included), the ancient religious center dedicated to the Sun and considered the most important of the Inca Empire. Here, the guide will explain the perfection of Inca construction techniques and how, after the arrival of the Spaniards, the temple was transformed into the Santo Domingo Convent. You will also have free time to appreciate the architectural details and take memorable photos.
We will then head to the outskirts of the city to explore the main Inca archaeological complexes. We will start at Tambomachay, known as the Temple of Water, a ceremonial site with canals and fountains that demonstrate the Inca worship of water and its importance in agriculture. We will continue to Puka Pukara, a military fortress that served as a control and defense point, offering strategic views of the valley.
The tour continues with a visit to the imposing Sacsayhuamán, one of the most majestic constructions of the Inca Empire. Its enormous stone blocks, assembled with millimetric precision, still amaze visitors today, and its location provides a spectacular panoramic view of the city of Cusco, especially at sunset.
Finally, we will visit Qenqo, a ceremonial center carved into rock that contains altars and underground passages associated with religious rituals and offerings to Pachamama.
After this enriching experience, we will return to Cusco, concluding the tour after approximately 5 hours, at a central point near the Plaza de Armas, from where you can continue exploring the city on your own.
