From there, the trail descends for about two hours to the lunch spot. In the afternoon, you will continue with a three-hour hike toward Chaullay, entering the High Jungle area. Upon arrival at the campsite, you will enjoy dinner and receive the briefing for the following day.

Day 2: Chaullay – La Playa (Sahuayaco) – Lucmabamba

After breakfast and preparations, it is recommended to use insect repellent, as you will embark on a 16 km hike through the cloud forest and farmlands of the region. The warmer climate makes it ideal to wear light clothing. Once at the Lucmabamba campsite, you will have the afternoon free to rest. There, you can take part in a traditional coffee tour and also have the option to visit nearby hot springs. The day ends with dinner and an evening briefing.

Day 3: Lucmabamba – Llactapata – Hidroelectrica – Aguas Calientes

Following breakfast, the trek continues along an alternative Inca Trail section, ascending for about three hours until reaching the Llactapata archaeological site, from where you can enjoy a panoramic view of Machu Picchu. The hike then continues to Hidroelectrica, where lunch will be served. Later, you will have the option to either walk three more hours or take the train to Aguas Calientes. Once in town, you will check into your hotel, have dinner, and attend a briefing to prepare for the Machu Picchu visit.

Day 4: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco

On this final day, you will ascend to Machu Picchu, either by walking for about an hour and a half or by bus. Once there, you will enjoy a guided tour that covers the main sectors of this historic sanctuary. Afterward, you will have free time, with the option to hike Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain (prior reservation required). Later, you will return to Aguas Calientes, either on foot or by bus, to board the train to Ollantaytambo and then continue by road back to Cusco, where the experience concludes.
